Washington History Day

Friends of Washington History Day

Nearly 4,000 Washington students participate in History Day at some level. However, this number represents only a small fraction of our student population.

Two obstacles prevent more students from becoming a part of History Day: lack of awareness and lack of funds. In some cases, teachers have simply not heard about the educational excellence History Day students can gain. In other cases, the cost of participation can exclude individual students or entire school districts.

As a person who cares about History Day, you can help to ensure that no student is denied the opportunity to participate. Your personal gift will help to:

  • provide travel allowances for students who go to the national contest.
  • strengthen state efforts to promote History Day participation across the entire state. In 1999, Washington History Daywon the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching History--we would like to continue to provide that opportunity for all students statewide.
  • offer teacher workshops, which have increased the numbers of schools and teachers participating in History Day.

As a Friend of Washington History Day you may choose to become a donor at any of the following levels:

  • Donor: $1-$499
  • Bronze Donor: $500-$2,499
  • Silver Donor: $2,500-$4,999
  • Gold Donor: $5,000 - $9,999
  • Platinum Donor: $10,000 +

For benefits associated with each sponsorship level, please contact the state office.

Please contact the Washington History Day office if you are interested in making a donation.
