PNWHC Logo 2012

The Washington State Historical Society, permanent sponsor of the Pacific Northwest History Conference, invites proposals for the 64th Pacific Northwest History Conference, October 19-20, 2012 at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, Washington. We seek sessions, panels and workshop proposals on the broad theme of the Civil War and Civil Rights in the Pacific Northwest. The Pacific Northwest History Conference is a unique forum for exchange among historians, museum professionals, educators, archivists, history enthusiasts, and community activists. Proposals from all quarters are strongly encouraged. The conference is an opportunity to share your work and passion with a community of like-minded people.

The 64th conference commemorates the 150th anniversary of announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862 and the 50th anniversary of the landmark 1962 Supreme Court ruling ending segregation in all transportation facilities.
